PSN PS4 -On 15 November will mark the 12th anniversary of the eighth generation of Sony, namely PS4. The console still gets some firmware updates or new games from various developers.

But it seems that in 2026, several PS4 service features on PS4 will be deleted or disappeared. Is that true?

Based on information from Insider Gaming they got from the PlayStation document which reportedly continued to a number of developers, Tom Henderson reported that in 2026, Sony would prohibit new PS4 games to integrate certain service features on PSN.

The list of features or services affected by the decision is Activity Feed Web API, Shared Media Web API, Title Small Storage, Title User Storage, Word Filters and Users and Profiles. Meanwhile, the game console that has been released and uses these features or services will reportedly still have access to these services.

The decision is expected to apply in the spring 2026, according to the same source. The time to coincide with Sony’s plan to delete the console game from PlayStation Plus, which is scheduled to begin in January next year.

Impact for developers

Sony’s previously confirmed plan and a new report that appeared showed that the Japanese gaming giant effort to end PS4 support would be accelerated in 2026.

Limiting access to developers to API and basic web services such as user profiles and storage titles (which are used to store user specific data such as settings and session buffer) can make them reluctant to release new games to Playstation 4.

Termination of these features and services is likely to end the release of large budget games while reducing interest in launching a brand -new multiplayer game at the console.
