According to Vimms Lair’s post X, Myrient will close its site on March 31 2026. Myrient revealed several reasons for closing the site via the Discord and Telegram channels.

The first reason Myrient closed its site was because of funding constraints to run the site. More than 6000 USD was spent by the Myrient site owner independently to balance the traffic which is increasing every year. However, donations to keep the site running still can’t keep up.

Second, the owner of the Myrient site discovered some unethical activities that should not have occurred. Like Download Managers which are paid and are able to penetrate the Myrient site’s defenses. These Download Managers are known to be able to read contributor donation messages and penetrate download protection.

This last reason is actually something that gamers don’t really expect, but it is also understandable, because of the increase in the price of RAM, SSD and HDD for the needs of AI Datacenter. Site owners feel that it is too burdensome to keep the necessary infrastructure running, but the storage required is currently quite expensive.

The owner of the video game archive site Myrient still has several minor reasons that are factors or supporting reasons for the decision to close the Myrient site. But the site owner felt some people wouldn’t read it, so he decided not to explain further.
